Saving Germany: Clash of Steel. (A Desperate Measures battle report)

Hi gents, this is my second battle report, which take place once again in eastern germany, following the last operation in the sector.

This time, I used 1750 points armies, but it doesn't change a lot, only one more tankovy platoon for the soviets and 1 Tiger tank for the germans.

Hero Tankovy Brigada (from Desperate Measures)

Hero Motostrelkovy Company- 2 motor rifle platoon

Hero Spetsnaz platoon- 2 spetsnaz squads

Hero Motorised artillery battalion- 1 gun battery

Panzer Kampfgruppe (from Desperate Measures)

Panzer kampfgruppe HQ- 2 x Panther G

Panzer Platoon- 3 x Panther G

Panzer Platoon- 4 x Panzer 4J

Schwere Panzer Platoon- 1 x Tiger 1E

Panzergrenadiers Platoon- 3 squads

The mission was a Free for All, and the germans were attackers.

The Battlefield

One of the german objectives is placed near the nearest house, the other one is in the open field, near the forest. The russian ones are on the top of the hill in the bottom and the other one is next to the village.

The german commander placed panthers and panzergrenadiers platoon on the left flank, hiding in the woods and ready to charge the nearest soviet objective.

The lone Tiger tank prowls the battlefield...

Covered by the 2iC panther on the other side of the field, so they can make crossfire.

The Soviet artillery hiding in the fields, with the spetsnaz next to it.

Turn 1

The soviets did actually nothing on first turn, excepted firing at the 2iC panther, ineffectively....

The germans started to charge the objective, firing at soviet forces, and killing a motostrelkovy team.

The return fire from the 2iC panther destroyed 2 T34/85...ouch!

Turn 2

The 2 T34/85 left desperately fire at the 2iC panther...and destroy it!! Finally comrade!! No more blood shed!!

" hum...tovarich Kalinenko, is that a good thing for us?"

"nope...troubles are coming soldiers..."

Panthers urge forward, ready to crush the motostrekovy.

The Tiger Ace get rid of a T34/85 with a long range shot.

And the T34/85 platoon having lost 3 tanks on 4, they rolled their moral check...but failed it. First soviet platoon destroyed..not good at all!!

After the panther assault, the motostrelkovy are forced to fall back before being crushed by the iron treads.

Turn 3No reinforcement for the soviets this turn. The spetsnaz moved to capture the objective, left alone with the death of the 2iC.

The fire of the Motostrelkovy pinned the grenadiers.

The CO T34/85 whch was until now useless, move on to destroy the TIger but fail to do so...

The Tiger move to contest the objective and destroy 2 spetsnaz half tracks.

After a shooting step and the assault step following it (which can be compared to a bloodbath.) the motostrelkovy is utterly destroyed, leaving a single stand alive. The soviet objective is soon to be captured...

Turn 4

The spetsnaz dismount before being killed by the Tiger.

The CO T34/85 reverse and try to kill a Panther from behind but the shot widely miss.

The Tiger finishes it's job, annihilating the last half track.

The grenadiers move on and assault the CO T34.

Bail out... It's getting hot for the soviets.

Turn 5

Finally the soviet reinforcements arrives and destroy the CO panther!!

The poor CO panther...

The newly arrived Panzer 4's get it as well and one is bailed.

The Panther move to take on the soviet reserves.

The soviet CO is finally destroyed by the panzergrenadiers as well as the soviet reserves (destroyed by the combined fire of the Panthers and Panzer 4).

The unlucky reserves.

Conclusion:

German win 6-1.

I made a slightly shorter battle report in order to represent the sharp and fast battle that occured on the battlefield :)

Hi guy, nice battle. I'm not surprised Germans won. They are definitely the test tacticians with very good quality tanks and armored vehicles. In fact, it's just my feeling because I like German Army.
